Lebanon Hosting the Asian Cities Chess Team Championship Lebanon will be hosting the Asian Cities Teams Chess Championship 15- 23 April, 2009.
Confirmed participating cities: Bangalore (India), Nepal (Nepal), Tehran & Mashhad (Iran), Damascus (Syria), Amman (Jordan), Jerusalem & Gazza (Palestine), Sharjah, Dubai, & Abu Dhabi (UAE), Baghdad, Najaf, & Suleimaniah (Iraq), Sanaa (Yemen), Beirut, Furn El Shebbak & 2 other cities (Lebanon)

Antoine Kassis, Champion of Beirut and Mount Lebanon 2009 Being one of the most solid Lebanese chess players, and a traditional name in Lebanese chess competitions, it does not surprise anybody the name of CM Antoine Kassis when he adds one additional title to his chess career. This time it was Beirut and Mount Lebanon Chess Championship 2009, by gathering 5.5/6 points . Being the most popular qualification, in his way to Beirut and mount Lebanon championship, Kassis had to overtake several traditional solid chess players and ex-champs. Results - (Click the link)
Maya Jalloul, Champion of Lebanon ladies-2009 The 18 years old Maya Jalloul has become the new champion of Lebanon for ladies. In her way to the title, Maya overtook the traditional names in the Lebanese women championships and printed her name on the golden list of Lebanese Women Champions. Maya is born in 16 April, 1990. Sophomore student in the American University of Beirut (AUB), majoring in Mathematics, and has already won different age categories championships on the Lebanese and Arab Level. Women championship

Mahmoud Shamieh, Champion of Lebanon in Rapid Chess In one of the most stiff and tight championships, Mahmoud Shamieh, the famous name is age categories championships in Lebanon, scored his 1st title in a general championship and became the champion of Lebanon in Rapid Chess 2009. In his way to the championship, Mahmoud overtook very famous and traditional names in the Lebanese chess and imposed himself in the Champions honor list. The results came as follows: 1- Mahmoud Shamieh: 6.5 Pts 2- Fadi Eid: 6 Pts 3- Faisal Khairallah, Nasim Sakr, Ahmad Najjar, & Marwan Nassar : 5.5 Pts
Club Chmapionship 2008, Riyadi 1st, Tanmia 2nd... Anything new?!! Once again, the year 2008 did not change the rule on the top of the Clubs championship. Riyadi Club champion, Tanmia Beirut Club 1st runner up! Only Ansar Club made the change and grasped the 3rd place in front of the traditional candidates of last year. The 2009 Championship welcomes 2 new comers Ahimsa and Sanabel clubs who came 1st & 2nd respectively in the 2nd league championship, overtaking several traditional clubs.

Fadi Eid, Chmapion of Ehden Tournament Al Midan association organized its 2nd yearly tournament on 24 August, 2008 in Ehden. The results came as follows: Rated players: 1- Fadi Eid (IM), 2- Elias Nader, 3- Vahag Khatchadorian (IM) Non rated players: 1- Ohannes Armali, 2- Rawad Ayyash U18: 1- Mohammad Salman, 2- Gerard Oknanian U16: 1- Razmig Oknanian U14: 1- Amr Jawish U12: 1- Mohammad Shahrour U10: 1-Hrag Kalbozian
Faisal Khairallah, Lebanese champion 2008 After 3 consecutive years (2002-2004), FM Faisal Khairallah grasped his 4th title in the 2008 General championship which was held 4 - 14 June. By this 4th tiltle, Faisal Khairallah becomes the most holder of Lebanese championship titles. Few comments about 2008 championship: 1- The champion gathered 8.5 points out of 9 possible, 1.5 points difference between him and 2nd place, and guaranteed the championship from the 8th round. Best result ever in modern championships of Lebanon, equally with IM Fadi Eid who was the 1st in achieving 8.5 out of 9 possible points in 1994 championship.. 2- The Second rank in the championship was taken by the young player Ali Atwi. Ali Atwi is still playing under U20 championships! 3- 3 players were equal at 3rd place with 6.5 points. The 3 of them are ex-Lebanon champions, and among them the ex-champions of last 2 championships. Players Change of Elo

WIM Kanarik Moradian Arab Champion 2007 For the 4th time, WIM Kanarik Moradian holds the Arab Women championship crown in 2007. Kanarik achieved this record in the championship held in Yemen, on December 2007, by gathering 7.5 points out of 9 possible, 1 complete point ahead of the 1st runner up.
