1.     Report of the President 

FIDE Continental President for Asia, Mr. Khalifa Mohamad AL-Hitmi welcomes the delegates for the inaugural meeting of the new Executive Board. He emphasized the importance of the meeting and explained the task ahead. He also invited all the delegates to actively participate in the discussions on the proposed constitution and other activities.

2.     Statutes for Proposed Asian Chess Union

FIDE Continental President for Asia, Mr. Khalifa Mohamad AL-Hitmi proposed the Statutes for the formation of the Asian Chess Union. After discussing in detail the delegates agreed on the new constitution (annex 1) as a working document until a final draft is prepared for the Asian Continental Assembly. Mr. S.L. Harsh (IND) was tasked with reviewing the constitution from a legal perspective and to suggest the necessary modifications. General Secretary, Mr. Derrick V. Perera to coordinate this activity with Mr. S.L. Harsh and Mr. Custo Abundo (PHI).

FIDE Continental President for Asia, Mr. Khalifa Mohamad AL-Hitmi appointed Dr. Ammar AL-Houri (LEB) to the newly created position of Deputy President and GM Eugene Torre (PHI) as players representative of the EB. Also it was agreed to name the FIDE Asian Continental organization as Asian Chess Association.

3.     Logo for the Asian Chess Union.

FIDE Continental President for Asia, Mr. Khalifa Mohamad AL-Hitmi announced the postponement of the contest for a logo and said the entries will be received until the next continental assembly. Further, it was decided to use the FIDE logo until a logo is finalized for Asia.

4.     Asian Secretariat.

FIDE Continental General Secretary for Asia, Mr. Derrick V. Perera presented a report on the formation of the Asian Secretariat and emphasized the need to have a fully functional office. The EB empowered the President to take a decision on the secretariat in consultation with the General Secretary.

5.     Asian Calendar of Events.

The Asian calendar of events for the periods of 2003/4 and 2004/5 was finalized (annex 2).

6.     Regulations Regarding Continental/Zonal Championship.

FIDE Continental President for Asia, Mr. Khalifa Mohamad AL-Hitmi proposed the new regulations on the Asian Continental Championship. EB approved the proposal (annex 3). Further, EB decided to allow the Asian Junior Champion an automatic slot in the Asian Championship with full board and lodging.

7.     Other Matters.

Mr. AL-Shamsi Abdul Rahman (UAE) proposed to investigate the possibility of a Marketing Plan for Asian Chess Association. General Secretary, Mr. Derrick V. Perera was entrusted with preparing a marketing plan for Asia to be presented at the next EB.
